Case Study: Secure Turbine Health Monitoring for Remote OEM Analytics

Leading Gas Company in the Middle-East (GCC)

Real-time dispatch of turbine alarms and health indicators

High exposure risk due to users operating from lower-security external networks

Strict policy requirements for High Availability with zero single point of failure

Need / Problem / Context

Secure Transmission of Turbine Health Indicators to OEM Monitoring Center

A large gas company operating turbine-powered facilities in the Gulf region needed to transmit critical turbine health indicators to GE On-Site Monitor (GE OSM), the OEM’s remote monitoring platform in Italy, for advanced diagnostics and predictive maintenance.

These operational indicators — including alarms, vibration metrics, and performance parameters — are essential for monitoring turbine health and anticipating potential failures. However, the systems generating this data reside within the OT network controlling critical gas infrastructure and must remain strictly protected from Internet-borne cyber threats.

The organization therefore required a secure mechanism to continuously transmit turbine monitoring data to GE OSM, while preserving strict isolation of the operational environment and preventing any inbound connectivity from external networks.

Solution Deployed

A Cyberium unidirectional gateway architecture was deployed to securely transmit turbine health data from the OT environment to the OEM monitoring platform while preserving strict separation between operational systems and external networks. The architecture ensures continuous delivery of turbine monitoring telemetry while protecting critical OT infrastructure from any inbound cyber exposure.

Hardware appliance
