Case Study: Real-Time Asset Performance Visibility from OT to IT
Large Energy Company in the Middle East (GCC)
Providing near real-time availability of asset performance data for maintenance teams
Ensuring High Availability of the data flow with no single point of failure
Maintaining strict OT-IT separation while enabling continuous data exposure
Guaranteeing automatic failover if the IT-side infrastructure becomes unavailable
Need / Problem / Context
Secure Exposure of OT Asset Performance Data to IT Analytics
A major energy company operating large oil & gas production facilities in the Gulf region needed to expose asset reliability and performance metrics generated by its Emerson AMS Optics platform to engineering and maintenance teams operating from the IT network.
These operational analytics provide critical insights into equipment health, vibration analysis and predictive maintenance indicators. However, the monitoring platform was deployed within the OT environment controlling critical industrial assets and had to remain strictly isolated from the corporate IT network to prevent any remote cyber intrusion that could disrupt production operations.
The challenge was therefore to make asset performance data available to IT stakeholders in near real time — while preserving strict OT-IT isolation and ensuring the reliability of this critical operational data flow.
Solution Deployed
A Cyberium unidirectional gateway architecture was deployed to securely expose asset monitoring data from the OT environment to IT stakeholders while preserving strict network separation and operational stability.
2x OWA 3U pack @ 1 Gbps
Two unidirectional security gateways were deployed to securely expose OT asset monitoring data to the IT environment while maintaining strict network separation.
High-Availability℗ Setup
Cyberium patented High Availability mechanisms ensure uninterrupted data delivery and eliminate any single point of failure for this critical monitoring data flow.
Outcomes & benefits
By enabling secure real-time access to OT asset monitoring data, the deployment significantly improved maintenance decision-making and operational efficiency while maintaining strict protection of critical industrial systems.
Real-time visibility of asset performance and reliability metrics from the IT network
Transition from monthly optimization cycles to near real-time maintenance insights
Reduced unplanned downtime through predictive maintenance capabilities
